Tourist Information for using the Seville MetroCentro

The Seville tram is a modern light rail system serving the city of Seville, Spain. It connects key areas, providing a convenient and efficient mode of transportation for both locals and tourists.

Locally referred to as the MetroCentro and operated by TUSSAM, the tram stops at some of Seville’s top attractions including the Cathedral, Maria Luisa Park and the Torre del Oro.

Seville Tram Operating Times

The Seville Tram (MetroCentro) is open every day of the week including holidays, with extended hours on the weekend.

Seville Tram Frequency

During weekdays (Monday to Friday) the tram runs every 7 minutes from 6am until 3:30pm. After 3:30pm the tram runs every 9 minutes between stops.

On Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays the tram runs every 9 minutes.

Special events and holidays (especially around Christmas) sees the frequency of trams increase to meet demand.

Seville Tram Tickets and Prices

Single tickets on the Seville Tram cost €1.40, and there are no additional discounts for a return ticket – you just book two singles.

A more cost-effective way of travelling on a Seville bus is by purchasing the tourist travel card ticket:

Tarjeta Turista: Also known as the ‘Tourist Card’, is designed specifically for tourists visiting Seville who want to explore the city’s attractions. You can purchase either a 1 day (€5) or a 3 day (€10) card that allows you unlimited travel around Seville on both the bus and tram.

Tickets can be purchased at all stations via self service machines, and passengers can validated their tickets manually on the tram itself.

Seville Tram Lines and Stations

The tram system in Seville currently consists of a single line, which is approximately 2.2-kilometer (1.4-mile) long. It connects the main attractions in the centre of Seville and as of 2024 has 5 unique stations.

Further Information about Seville Trams

The Seville tram line was re-opened in stages from October 2007, and was fully finished in the summer of 2011. Previously, the tram line in Seville had operated from 1866 to 1965 before closing.

In March 2018, Seville authorities revealed plans to extend the tram line from San Bernardo station to Santa Justa train station.

The extension, involving a short tunnel on Avenida de Ramón y Cajal to Avenida San Francisco Javier, is expected to cost 49 million euros, with a targeted completion date in 2020.
