Why choose a Seville Cooking Class?
If you’re like me, you may have tried to replicate the tapas experience in your own home with varying levels of success. No matter how many videos I watched, or books I read, I could never quite get it right. That was until I tried a hand-on cooking class experience in Spain.
These classes are ran by expert chefs in Seville, with years of experience cooking traditional dishes from the South of Spain. The amount of tips and tricks I’ve learnt has been invaluable.
I know how to cook things a certain way, how to spot the best and freshest ingredients, and I’ve learnt so much about the history and culture of the different dishes. It’s one of the best cultural experiences you can do.
You’ll get to work with fresh ingredients, sourced from Andalusia, and often from Seville itself. Some select classes also include a market tour, where you can discover the raw ingredients used to make the dishes, and get the experience of ordering like a local.

1) Seville: 3.5-Hour Spanish Cooking Class & Triana Market Tour |
– Check out the traditional Triana market with a guided tour.

This 3 and a half hour cooking class is the class we recommend to tourists looking to get hands-on preparing some traditional Spanish dishes when in Seville. The class is informative and well taught, with both the Chef Leo and guide Dani making you feel very relaxed and being super friendly.
|
2) Seville: Paella Cooking Experience on a Rooftop Terrace |
– A paella demonstration from a traditional expert (not hands-on).

This is the perfect option if you’re looking for more of a focus on the Spanish classic dish, Paella.
|
3) Seville: Andalusian Tapas Class |
– Cook and eat 4 different traditional tapas dishes.

Whilst the other cooking classes I have recommended are mainly focused around the classic Paella dish (with a few extra tapas added), this class is centred on tapas.

What happens in Seville Cooking Class?
Classes are normally small in size in order for you to get as much interaction and feedback from the chef leading the class.
They will start by demonstrating the dish you are cooking, going through it slowly whilst you observed. You’ll then have chance to create the dish yourself, whilst the expert comes around and offers you advice and instructions as you go.
Don’t worry, the atmosphere is far from the busy and stressful kitchens you see in actual restaurants, and there is no pressure to get everything perfect. A few times I have even had to start a dish again, or get the head chef to take over for a few seconds to rectify my errors.
A the end of each dish you can try what you made, but usually, the teacher will also cook the dish so you can taste it as it should be.
The classes provide you with drinks and snacks to enjoy the experience, pairing the correct wines to the dishes you prepare, or offering you beer and soft drinks to keep you hydrated (especially if it’s a warm day!).
